I said in my previous blog that I will post an update soon of how I’ve been getting on at the poker tables. With PTR having stopped posting results for PokerStars players starting from today, this seems like a good time to blog and post my results of the last few weeks (from 13th march – 18th april).

36-Day Stats

Hours: 115.57

Winnings: $28,811.15

Rakeback: $5,701.41

Total Profit: $34,512.56

Hourly Rate: $298.63/hr

So yeah, I’ve been running really well, for the most part anyway. There was a quick run-bad in the middle where I took some shortstacking shots at 25/50 and 50/100. But overall I’m obviously pretty happy. I’ve recently switched from playing shortstacks 2/4 to playing full stacks 2/4, and the results have been good, but maybe I’ve just been running good….Nevertheless my EV graph is still OK! Also I’ve been running pretty bad at the beginning of my PLO career on Stars so it’s about time I get my fair share of luck! See my coaching and results page if you don’t believe me!

Outside of Poker

I still found time to travel to Shanghai with my girlfriend during this time. It was good, even though I didn’t really like the place. China has the 2nd largest economy in the world, but I am telling you it is a horrible place! Thailand is so much nicer. And when you compare Bangkok to Shanghai (the cleanest, most civilised and westernised place in China), Bangkok just wins in so many categories.

Other than that I’ve been investing (and doing a lot of studying) in the stock market. I use the term investing because it is very different to day trading and speculating! Stocks is really fun and you can’t really lose in the long run if you don’t do anything stupid. It’s great because you can actually use a lot of the skills that you have developed through playing poker.

And finally, I just bought a new laptop today after contemplating buying one for the last 4-5 months. I decided against switching to Mac and bought an Asus G74 Republic of Gamers. This one on Amazon to be exact. Only Difference is I bought mine in Thailand and paid like $450 more and it ‘only’ has 8GB RAM! It’s amazing though and I would highly recommend it for all poker players and gamers who haven’t turned to the dark side (Mac).

That’s it for now. Hopefully I will post more winning results in my next blog and also have a trip report of Vegas (maybe 50-50 whether I go or not – just waiting for Tim to confirm!).

  1. What’s the best way to play online poker in Thailand with the option of transferring money into the country? I am not sure what online money system to use.

  2. Hi GTQ, do you have a Thai bank account? If you do then you can set up Entropay Virtual Visa. Apparently they charge 4.95% but sites like Party they give back this % to you as soon as you deposit. They might charge like 1% in total. Im not sure about PokerStars yet.

If you dont have a Thai bank account you can easily open one. I recommend Kasikorn Bank.

Withdrawals are much easier as you can just wire transfer directly to your Thai bank account.

I suggest you also look at Neteller as I heard that recently they changed their terms, making it possible to transfer and deposit on gambling sites from any country…Also be sure to check our promotions when you make your first deposit :) http://www.pokermedley.com/rewards/

    Good luck!
